Embassies and diplomatic agencies open their doors to Berlin schoolclasses

Since 1990 the BERLINER MÄRCHENTAGE open doors and hearts to foreign cultures and encourage international understanding as well as cultural education of children and adolescents. In the context of the fairy tale festival we present one region of the world each year and thereby support the public interest in traditions, way of living and stories of foreign peoples.

For this reason MÄRCHENLAND – Deutsches Zentrum für Märchenkultur (Fairytale Land – German Centre for Fairytale Culture) initiated in 2009 a series of events never known before: The Embassies and diplomatic agencies situated in Berlin open their doors to Berlin school classes.

Members of the embassies or artists of the respective country take an hour of their time to present specific characteristics their country to interested young students. The school classes get to know about the historical development of the country and how people live in the region.

Typical fairy tales or narration are also part of the event because the legends of a nation are always closely connected to its culture and self-understanding.
